When I talk to people about sleep habits, I’m often shocked plus appalled at what they say.
As someone who suffered from insomnia for most of my life, I understand that it can be a challenge to get to sleep.
That’s why I don’t understand why people make it even more difficult for themselves to get the rest that they need. I have so multiple buddys who will willingly disclose to staring at their iPhones before bedtime, sleeping with light in the room, plus setting more than 2 alarms in the afternoon to wake them up. Personally, I suppose that alarms are one of the worst things you can do. That’s why, I’ve trained myself to naturally wake up without any alarm… Unless you count my air conditioning system. I realized a long time ago that the anxiety I felt after setting an alarm would keep me up at night. Eventually, I started programming my brain to notice exterior signals, such as my air conditioning system, as a sign of the afternoon hour. Now, instead of worrying about alarms, I just keep up with my temperature control settings each afternoon. You see, one afternoon I realized that one of the first sounds I heard upon waking up was the air conditioning system outside my window, then just as the sun was coming up, the outdoor air temperature would start changing, plus my A/C unit would kick into gear. I could count on this Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C event like clockwork. So, I figured I did not really need my alarm clock anymore. I trained my brain to guess the sound plus feel of flowing air conditioning, plus now I sleep like a champ.
