When I talk to people about sleep habits, I am often shocked as well as appalled at what they say.
As someone who suffered from insomnia for most of my life, I understand that it can be a challenge to get to sleep.
That’s why I do not understand why people make it even more hard for themselves to get the rest that they need. I have so many neighbors who will willingly admit to staring at their iPhones before bedtime, sleeping with light in the room, as well as setting many alarms in the day to wake them up. Personally, I feel that alarms are one of the worst things you can do. That’s why, I have trained myself to naturally wake up separate from any alarm… Unless you count my a/c. I realized a long time ago that the anxiety I felt after setting an alarm would keep me up at evening. Eventually, I started programming my brain to notice exterior signals, such as my a/c, as a sign of the day hour. Now, instead of worrying about alarms, I just keep up with my temperature control settings each day. You see, one day I realized that one of the first sounds I heard upon waking up was the a/c outside my window, just as the sunshine was coming up, the outdoor air temperature would start changing, as well as my AC equipment would kick into gear. I could count on this Heating as well as Air Conditioning event like clockwork. So, I figured I didn’t certainly need my alarm clock anymore. I trained my brain to assume the sound as well as feel of flowing a/c, as well as now I sleep like a champ.
